I've spent twelve years on platforms that aren't allowed to break
Government agencies, EU institutions and enterprises — where the site is a public service, the audit is real, and nobody gets to start over.
I'm a Drupal architect based in Prague. For the past year I've been lead developer on an EU agency platform serving more than 500,000 users across Europe, maintaining over 150 modules in production on AWS and Azure. Before that, seven years on Czech government platforms for the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, including EVALDO.
The work is mostly not glamorous. It's the accessibility criterion nobody tested, the module that has no successor on Drupal 11, the query that was fine until the content team published their hundred-thousandth node, and the document workflow that three people were doing by hand. I like it because the constraints are real and the users are everybody.
